Since the beginning of the Gaja Center, the intention to use the Biodanza method with a civic, social approach has been shared and clear among the members  and clinical (alongside the socio-health care facilities in the area of mental health and different skills)  exploiting the enormous relational resource of the discipline that makes it suitable to be configured as a social pedagogy of self-expression and relationship with the other. Biodanza as a method immediately appeared as a good tool to be applied both in social situations of hardship (people with disabilities, disabilities, mental illnesses) as well as in projects for the prevention of distress itself and for the enhancement of the person (Biodanza projects in the neighborhoods). and in schools, in collaboration with the municipal administrations).

From 1997 to today there are numerous clinical and social Biodanza projects that the Gaja Center has supported

and supports with its specialized facilitators, collaborative teams and  scientific research with the University of Padua  (Fisppa Department) which validated the scientific evidence

of the results of Biodanza in existential rehabilitation and enhancement of the person

BIODANZA FRIENDLY:
A NEW WAY TO RELATE IN THE CITY

The Gaja-Laboratory Center for biocentric expression (legal structure of the Association - president of Luisa Benatti) was born in 1996 from the desire of a group of Biodanza teachers to create a space for citizenship for growth, well-being and expression through a including and socializing expressive methodology such as Biodanza.

"Get out" the Biodanza from the gyms  it means returning it to its ideal founding purpose: to be a pedagogy that through the encounter with oneself  allows a better quality in relationships.

And to bet that in neighborhoods and cities it is a non-verbal mediation tool to better "make citizens dialogue" means instilling a healthy provocation that shakes the vertical and normative model of the social fabric, impregnated with egoic pathologies that underneath reveal a great fear of being different from oneself.

Reflecting and acting to rethink a "political" Biodanza project means imagining and realizing a project that redraws the scenario we live in with our steps and our days, our dreams, what we believe in, our aspirations.

It means making a concrete contribution to change the pace of cities and imagine a new "Utopia", a "City of citizens" centered around the paradigm on which Biodanza is based, or that  not man, but life is at the Center.

Putting life at the center, from a social planning perspective, can mean the abandonment of a reductive anthropocentrism, in favor of an ecological conception of ourselves, of our homes and cities. It can redeem a broader form of kindness and caring for every living form. A policy that places pleasure as a priority in the choices that distinguish existence, which builds a sustainable society, sober but not sacrificial, where hedonism is not a sense of guilt and is not to the detriment of someone other than us.

In the twenty-year experience of the Biodanza Friendly project, through free Biodanza courses sponsored by the municipal administrations, the Gaja Center intended to sow a seed of dialogue and encounter in order to improve the network of communications and relationships between people.

The vast heterogeneity of the participants (heterogeneity of age, class, training paths) has certainly highlighted that individual diversity is a value that can contribute to the exchange of knowledge and personal growth and that lower the threshold of judgment towards the other means in most cases lowering the expectation threshold for one's existential results with a general destressing, facilitating and friendly consequence.
